PRP Injections

An injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a quick outpatient procedure performed at South Palm Orthopedics in Delray Beach, Florida. Although the procedure is relatively fast and simple, patients are advised to choose an experienced orthopedic surgeon who has specialized knowledge and training. Dr. Steve Meadows is the go-to doctor for PRP therapy in South Florida.

PRP injections are safe and low-risk.

The procedure takes about one to two hours to prepare the injection, administer it, and recover in the office. First, a blood sample is drawn and processed in our lab. Using special processing equipment, the blood sample is spun at a high speed in order to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the sample. The doctor will use a needle to inject the plasma at the most appropriate location. No anesthesia, incisions, or stitches! Most people can return to work or other activities the same day.

PRP injections are effective.

You will notice considerable pain relief after one or two injections. If needed, up to three PRP injections can be administered within a six-month period. The healing process has been confirmed using imaging technology (ultrasound and MRI), which shows clear evidence of tissue repair following PRP therapy. For many patients, this means you won’t have to have surgery!
