Steve Meadows, MD

Board-Certified, Fellowship-Trained Orthopedic Surgeon

Steve Meadows, MD

Specializing in stem cell therapy and PRP therapy for orthopedic conditions involving the upper and lower extremities

Dr. Steve Meadows is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who has been practicing in South Florida since 1994 at South Palm Orthopedics. As a fitness and athletic enthusiast himself, seeing patients recover and return to their normal activities is what motivates him every day.

“From the severely injured trauma patient who recovers, to the tennis player who gets back on the court after I fix their shoulder, it is all very satisfying.” – Dr. Meadows

Dr. Meadows received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He then attended the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate College of Medicine and completed his internship in general surgery at the North Shore University Hospital of Cornell University. He completed residency training at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute in New York, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. Following his residency, Dr. Meadows received fellowship training in hand surgery at the Hand Center at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

In addition to general orthopedics and trauma surgery, Dr. Meadows has focused on minimally invasive procedures for shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist conditions and also performs shoulder replacement and reverse shoulder replacement surgery. He performs more than 150 shoulder surgeries every year, making him one of the most experienced and qualified orthopedic surgeons in the area. He is one of the only surgeons performing reverse shoulder replacement surgery in South Florida.

Dr. Meadows is an advocate for stem cell therapy and has been providing these treatments since 2008. These treatments are effective alternatives to surgery for many patients. Instead of using man-made hardware to fix a joint problem or torn ligament, a special injection can be administered directly into diseased or damaged tissues to boost the body’s natural healing and regeneration process. This is much more than just a pain injection. Stem cell therapy actually works at the cellular level to improve whatever is causing pain for the patient.

Outside of South Palm Orthopedics' Stem Cell Therapy Center, Dr. Meadows also serves as Chief Medical Officer for iHealthSpot, a leading interactive agency specializing in healthcare. In his capacity as CMO, he plays an integral part in the development of company’s award-winning online patient education library.

When he isn’t seeing patients, Dr. Meadows leads an active lifestyle, playing tennis and exercising on a regular basis. He has also written a column for Tennis Week magazine.
